JJ SNYDER
TV PERSONALITY

Do you have a love-hate relationship with social media? I do LOL. I find inspiration in highlighting cool stuff beyond just myself. That frequently leads me to Downtown Las Vegas.

Whether youโ€™re local or a visitor Downtown Las Vegas has a unique creative vibe that you must explore. The area we call Downtown is located 4 miles north of the strip surrounding Fremont Street and including the Arts District. Wander the streets and feel the glow of history from Vegasโ€™s first neons signs and original hotels like the El Cortez.

Part of the appeal of Downtown LV is that itโ€™s relatively small and slightly seedy. Moving from LA to Vegas 5 years ago, I like to draw the comparison between Fremont Street and Venice Beach. The area is a center of culture and creativity and just a little rough around the edges.

Itโ€™s that roughness that has given birth to an artistic revival in the area, hosting the Life Is Beautiful music festival in September. I love wandering thru the vintage shops on S Main Street and dropping by the monthly First Friday Festival. Graphic artists have been commissioned to paint dozens of murals on city walls that add incredible burst of color to the area.

Tip: All 5 of the locations on my list are less than 10 minutes apart by car & unlike the strip most of the parking is free. Trust me, the best time for taking pics at the murals is just before sunset to avoid harsh shadows.

Happy gramming!
